Players Needed: At least 1 adult for supervision, direction and assistance during the course of
craft project
Materials Needed:
Emptied toilet paper, gift wrap or paper towel rolls
Leftover scraps of tissue paper, newspapers, or junk mail that can add color or
texture to telescope
Non-Toxic White Glue (watered down with tap water to give it a decoupage
function)
Popsicle sticks or old paint brushes
Steps:
- Child should select appropriate roll to suit their telescope needs.
- Instruct child to rip, tear and texturize recycled paper to their liking.
- Papers can then be glued around the rolls using popsicle sticks or brushes to
spread the glue in any creative fashion (as long as opening holes remain clear
at both ends). Advise children not use too much glue at anytime or roll will become weak
structurally.
- Once child is pleased with design, allow to dry.
- Once telescope is dry, child can then utilize their new tool to spot clouds or
other aspects of the outdoors.
