Players Needed: At least 1 adult for supervision, direction and assistance during the course of
craft project
Materials Needed:
Smooth rocks found by the little artist during outdoor playtime or a nature walk
Non-toxic Acrylic Paint (at least 3 colors-Yellow/Red/Blue) separated in 3
different craft plates or bowls.
Appropriate number of paint brushes for amount of colors and children.
Steps:
- Adult can accompany child(ren) on rock-finding adventure (and advise children to
select rocks that are smoother in texture and appearance).
- Adult should help child rinse and clean rock(s) as best as possible (most
conveniently outdoors using the garden hose).
- Allow to dry.
- Paint colors should be set up and children advised to create thematic rock
families or random designs.
- Once children have completed their rock(s), allow rocks to dry.
- Rocks can be given as gifts, cleverly placed in gardens or beautifully displayed
in any part of the home.
