Capture the Flag   Printable PDF
Number of Players:  Four or more

Materials Needed:
-  Two relatively equally sized outdoor territories in close vicinity (i.e. divide a backyard in half) and ensure that there are good spots to hide the team ‘flags’ in.
-  Brightly colored flag, handkerchief, ball cap, or old t-shirt

Rules:
-  Players are divided into two teams (as equal as possible).  Each team is assigned 1 of the 2 designated territories.
-  An adult gives the teams 5-10 minutes to strategize on:
-  Where they will hide their flag within their own territory?
-  Where they will set-up their team ‘headquaters’?  The headquarters will ultimately house any captured players of the opposing team.
-  Lastly, each team will also send out a spy (or spies) to try and gain information as to where the other team has hidden their flag.  To prevent this unwanted surveillance from the opposing team, security team member(s) will also be assigned by each team to prevent spies from hearing or seeing the other team’s strategies or flag location.
-  Once time is up, the adult announces that the game has begun and each team then attempts to cross over into the other’s territory to “capture their flag”.
-  However, any player tagged by the opposing team while in that opposing team’s territory will be taken to the headquarters until the end of the game OR until they have been tagged by one of their own teammates.
-  The first team to capture the opposing team’s flag and return it to their headquarters without being tagged has won the game!  However, at anytime during the game, players cannot be tagged while in their own territory.
